Every field, category and photo set up properly. Then kept up to date when your hours, prices or services change.
Usually same day, always within 2 business days.
Short answer
Your Google Business Profile is free. It’s the listing that shows on Google Maps and beside your name in search. Optimisation means 14 jobs, from verification and categories to photos, services and a review link. Setup comes with every website package. Stand-alone profile work is quoted after a quick look. No lock-in.
The 14 jobs in a full profile setup
Google’s own help pages on this run long. You don’t need to read them. This is the list we work through, and it’s on our list, not yours.

- Still yours: answering your customers, and saying yes to changes.
What your Google profile does for you
From a search to a booking, then a review and a fresh update: the whole journey in 30 seconds, with example businesses.
Why pay someone when the profile is free?
Because it’s easy to get slightly wrong, and slightly wrong costs you. The wrong primary category can keep you out of the searches you want. Stuffing keywords into your business name can get the profile suspended. An address that doesn’t match your website confuses Google.
Most owners set up their profile once, years ago, in a hurry. Then nobody touches it. Hours drift, photos age, and the services list stays half done. That’s the gap we close.

Google My Business (now Google Business Profile)
Same thing, new name. Google renamed Google My Business a few years back. If you set one up under the old name, it’s still there, and you can still manage it. You may also see “optimization” with a z. It’s the same job.
Fixing profile problems
Some profiles need rescuing before they can be optimised. These are the three we see most.
- 01
Suspended
SuspensionUsually triggered by a keyword-stuffed name, a mismatched address or a rule Google thinks you broke. We find the likely cause, fix it, and lodge a reinstatement request. Google makes the final call.
- 02
Duplicated
DuplicatesTwo listings split your reviews and confuse Google. We work out which one to keep, then ask Google to merge or remove the other.
- 03
Owned by someone else
AccessAn old web person or a past staff member holds the login. We use Google’s ownership request process to get it back into your name.
What’s new on Google profiles (Oct 2026)
A few changes were reported this month. Most are Google tests, so not every profile sees them yet. Keeping profiles current is part of what we do, so these are the kind of changes we keep an eye on for you.
- 01
A WhatsApp button in Search
ReportedSome business panels in Google Search now show a WhatsApp button, so customers can message the business there. It isn’t confirmed whether this is a test or a full rollout. Reported 7 Oct 2026.
- 02
Posts showing higher
Google testingGoogle is testing a higher spot for Posts on the business panel. In the test, they moved up and back down every few days. If it sticks, regular posts will be seen by more people. Test reported 19 Oct 2026.
- 03
Review appeals delayed
Google saysGoogle says review appeals are taking longer because of high volume, and it can’t give a timeframe. If you’ve already appealed a review, don’t file a duplicate: one appeal is enough. Reported 20 Oct 2026, from a Google post on 16 Oct.
- 04
Verifying with a photo ID
Google testingSome owners are being offered a new way to verify: uploading a photo of a government ID. Google says the ID is only used for verification and isn’t shown publicly. It isn’t in Google’s help pages yet. Test reported 20 Oct 2026.

Google Business Profile FAQ
Straight answers. Can’t see yours? Ask us.
Google Business Profile is free, so why pay someone to optimise it?
The profile is free. What you pay for is getting it right. That means the best categories, every service listed and verification problems solved. Duplicates get cleared, real photos added, and reviews get a simple system. Getting those wrong can keep you off the map, or get the profile suspended. Every website package includes setup. Stand-alone work is quoted after a quick look.
Who can set up my Google Business Profile in Auckland?
We set up and verify profiles for Auckland and NZ businesses, with the right categories, your services, real photos and a direct review link. Setup is included with every website, or quoted on its own after a quick look. You can also do it yourself with our setup guide.
What exactly do you do in a Google profile optimisation?
We work through a 14-point list. Verification, primary and secondary categories, services, service areas, description, hours and holiday hours. Then photos, products or menu, answered questions, a review link and QR code, and duplicate checks. Last, we tag your website link so you can see visits from Maps. You get a short “done” note when it’s finished.
Is Google My Business the same as Google Business Profile?
Yes. It’s the same product with a new name. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile a few years back. If you set up a listing under the old name, it still exists and still works. You manage it from Google Search or Maps, or the Google Business Profile page, rather than the old app.
Is there a monthly fee for Google Business Profile?
Not from Google. The profile is free to create and free to keep. Anyone charging you a monthly fee is charging for their own work, not for the profile. Keeping it current is ongoing, though: hours, photos, posts and review replies. That upkeep is part of our Sorted + Google care. We quote after a quick look. No lock-in.
I can't get into my Google My Business account. Can you help?
Yes. First we try to find which Google account owns it, often an old email address. If that fails, Google has an ownership request process for the rightful business owner. We’ll need your business details, and you may need to verify by phone, email or video. We guide you through it, so you only do the bits Google insists on.
My profile is suspended, duplicated or owned by someone else. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. For a suspension, we find the likely cause, fix it, then lodge a reinstatement request. Duplicates get merged or removed through Google. If someone else owns the listing, we use Google’s ownership process. We can’t promise what Google decides, or how quickly. We’ll tell you plainly what we’ve done and what we’re waiting on.
Can you remove a bad Google review?
Only if it breaks Google’s rules: spam, fake reviews, hate speech, conflicts of interest, or content that isn’t about a real experience. Those can be flagged for removal. A genuine bad review usually stays. The best answer is a calm, short reply that fixes the problem if you can. Future customers read the reply as much as the review.
