SEO for NZ small businesses, with the work listed

Small business SEO where you can see exactly what was done, why, and what’s next. Quoted after a quick look at your business. No lock-in.

Usually same day, always within 2 business days.

Short answer

SEO is the work that helps Google understand and trust your website. For NZ small businesses, the Maps pack usually moves in 1 to 2 months. Organic rankings take 3 to 6 months or more. Those are typical, not promised. We quote after a quick look. No lock-in. We’re rated 5.0 on Google.

Why there is no price on this page

We quote after a quick look at your business. No lock-in. SEO for a sparky in Glen Eden is a different job from SEO for an accountant in Newmarket. The work depends on your competition, your current site and how many areas you want to show up in.

So we look first. Then you get a fixed price, with the work listed, before anything starts. For context, local SEO in NZ usually runs $500 to $1,500 a month at the market rate (ex GST, Oct 2026). Our SEO cost guide breaks down what drives the price.

What we do, in order

SEO isn’t magic. It’s a list of jobs, done in the right order. Here’s ours. New to it? Start with what is SEO.

  • Pass your job to someone you’ve never met

Is SEO still worth it now that AI answers questions?

Yes, and the overlap is big. In our experience, ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI answers lean on the same things SEO builds: clear pages, consistent details and real reviews. Our guide, Is SEO still worth it in 2026?, explains it. For the AI side itself, see AI search optimisation.

SEO FAQ

Straight answers. Can’t see yours? Ask us.

What does your SEO cost?

We quote after a quick look at your business. No lock-in. The price depends on your competition, your current site and how many areas you want to show up in. You get a fixed price, with the work listed, before anything starts. For market context, local SEO in NZ usually runs $500 to $1,500 a month (ex GST, Oct 2026).

What do you actually do each month?

It depends on where you’re at, but the jobs come from four groups. Technical fixes so Google can read your site. Local work on your Google Business Profile, directories and reviews. Content: service and suburb pages that answer real questions. And mentions on trusted NZ sites. Each month you get a short note listing what was done and what’s next.

Do you guarantee page-one rankings?

No. Google says nobody can guarantee the top spot, because nobody controls Google. What we can promise is the work: listed before we start, done in order, and reported in plain English. We’ll also tell you when we think something isn’t worth your money.

Is your SEO month-to-month, or is there a contract?

There’s no lock-in contract. The price and the work are agreed before we start, in plain-English terms. If you want to stop, you stop. Your domain, content, Google profile and analytics are in your name. We host the site, and you can move it any time. Any logins are handed over.

Who actually does the SEO work?

The same person who reads your first email. Web Smart HQ is a small studio, so there’s no hand-off between sales and delivery, and nobody in the middle. The person who quotes your SEO does the work and writes your monthly note. If you have a question, you reply to that note. We reply within 2 business days.

Do I need a new website before doing SEO?

Often not. If your site loads well on a phone, explains what you do and has a working contact form, we can work with it. If it’s slow, hard to edit or built on a platform that limits SEO, patching it can cost more than rebuilding. The free website check tells you which, before you spend anything.
