Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. In plain English.
Updated 4 October 2026.
Short answer
We collect only what you type into our forms, plus analytics that don’t identify you. A rough, region-level location guess helps us show nearby examples; we don’t store it or your IP address. We don’t sell data or send newsletters you didn’t ask for. Ask to see or correct your information any time.
Who we are
Web Smart HQ is a trading name of NJD Limited, based in Auckland, New Zealand. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Web Smart HQ.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@websmarthq.com.
What our forms collect
When you use a form on this site, we collect what you type into it. That’s usually your name, your email address and your message. Some forms also ask for your business name or website address.
We use it to reply to you, to quote, and to do the work if you go ahead. We don’t add you to a mailing list, and we don’t make sales calls.
Our forms reach our inbox by email through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a form-to-email service. Your message passes through their service on the way to us. FormSubmit has its own privacy terms on its website.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how the site is used: which pages people visit, roughly which city they’re in, what device they use and how they found us. It loads after the page has finished loading.
Google Analytics uses cookies. Google says Google Analytics 4 doesn’t log or store IP addresses, and we can’t see who you are from it.
If you’d rather not be counted, Google offers an opt-out browser add-on.
A rough location, to show nearby examples
Some pages show examples near you. To do that, your browser asks a location service for a rough, region-level guess based on your IP address, such as “Waikato”. We ask ipwho.is first. If it doesn’t answer, we try geojs.io, then ipinfo.io as a fallback.
We use the region only to choose what to show you. We don’t store it, and we don’t store your IP address. The location service sees your IP address when your browser asks, the same as any website you visit.
If the lookup fails or you block it, you simply see the standard page.
The weather line
Some pages show the current weather in Auckland. Your browser gets it from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com). The request asks only for Auckland’s weather, and we send nothing about you with it.
What your browser remembers
If you choose your area, or fill in the website cost calculator, your browser saves those choices in its local storage, so they’re still there next time you visit.
That information stays on your device. We can’t see it, and it isn’t sent to us. You can clear it any time in your browser settings.
Where your information goes, and how long we keep it
Form messages are kept in our email. Google and FormSubmit may store or process data outside New Zealand. We only send them what’s needed for the job.
We don’t sell, rent or trade your information. We don’t pass it to anyone else to do the work, because we don’t outsource.
We keep enquiries and project emails while they’re useful for quoting, for work we do for you, and for our business records. If you ask us to delete them and the law doesn’t require us to keep them, we will.
Your rights under the Privacy Act 2020
Under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.
Email hello@websmarthq.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We reply within 2 business days, and we’ll answer your request within the 20 working days the Act allows.
