How much are Wix plans in 2026?
Wix’s paid plans started at about US$17 a month (Light) and US$29 a month (Core), billed yearly and ex GST, when we checked on 3 Oct 2026. NZ guides put the entry plan at around NZ$20 to $23 a month, also before GST. Wix is a DIY website builder: you pick a template, drag things around and pay monthly.
Its plans were listed in US dollars when we checked. Your bank converts the price and may add a fee. Prices change often, so check the current price on Wix’s plans page before you sign up.

Wix plan prices checked 3 Oct 2026 (USD). Wix says its prices don’t include taxes, so these are ex GST. NZ guides quoted the entry plan at ~NZ$19.77 a month (Aug 2026) and from NZ$23 a month (Jul 2026).
The extras: domain, email and apps
On top of a Wix plan, most businesses pay for a domain ($20 to $60 a year), business email ($8 to $18 per person a month), both ex GST, and sometimes paid apps. Some features come from apps, and many apps charge their own monthly fee.

Before you pay for a plan, check
- The renewal price, not just the first-year deal.
- Whether you’re billed monthly or yearly, and in which currency.
- That the domain is registered in your name.
- What business email costs per person.
- Which features need a paid app, and what each app costs.
What does Wix cost over 3 years?
Over 3 years, a simple site on Wix’s entry plan with a domain and email for one person costs roughly $1,070 to $1,660, plus your time. Monthly costs look small, but they add up.

Our arithmetic from the prices above. Approximate. The domain and email figures are ex GST; the NZ guides didn’t say whether their Wix prices include GST. Core at ~US$29 a month (ex GST) is ~US$1,044 over 3 years, before extras.
For comparison, an Auckland freelancer’s 1-page site averages ~$800, plus ~$300 a year for hosting and domain (ex GST, Oct 2026). That’s about $1,700 over 3 years, with someone else doing the build.
Is Wix worth paying for?
Wix is worth paying for if you enjoy DIY, have 20 to 40 spare hours and want to change things yourself, but it buys very little if the site sits half-finished. Remember that Wix gives you the tools, not the work. Your Google Business Profile, page titles, photos and reviews are still your job. In our experience, those are what get you found.

Wix may not suit you if…
You’re flat out on the tools or with clients. If the site sits half-finished, or Google setup never gets done, the monthly fee buys very little.
What are the cheaper alternatives to Wix?

Can you move off Wix later?
Not easily: Wix doesn’t let you export your site to another platform, so the design has to be rebuilt. You can transfer your domain away and copy your words and photos. For a .nz domain, the Domain Name Commission explains how a domain transfer works.
