We searched Henderson. Here’s what Google showed.

Three everyday searches and the Top 3 businesses in Google’s map for each. What they had, and what they were missing.

  • cafe henderson
  • electrician henderson
  • hairdresser henderson
Checked 8 October 2026
  • 3 of 9had no website of their own: 2 had no link at all, and 1 linked to Facebook
  • 159reviews: the middle count across the 9 Top 3 businesses
  • 26reviews: the fewest any Top 3 business had (an electrician)
  • 1 of 9had fewer than 10 photos on its profile

Searched on Google NZ (desktop) on 8 October 2026, set to Henderson, Auckland. We looked at the top three unpaid map results for each search and haven’t named the businesses. Review counts are from the search itself; hours, photos and claimed status come from Google listing data updated between May and October 2026. Google’s results move every day; this is one moment in time.

What it means for you

A third of Henderson’s Top 3 had no website of their own, so anyone checking them out had only the profile to go on. A simple site, linked from your profile and naming Henderson and the suburbs you serve, is an easy edge over the business next to you on the map.

A Google profile checklist for Henderson

Drawn from our local check: what the Top 3 had, and what the next businesses down were missing.

  • Your own website, linked from your profile. 3 of 9 Top 3 businesses here linked to nothing, a social page or a free builder address instead.
  • 10 or more real photos: your work, your people and your entrance. 1 of 9 here had fewer.
  • A steady flow of reviews from every customer, each with a reply. The Top 3 here had a middle count of 159; the smallest had 26.
  • Up-to-date hours, with holiday hours set. People look before they leave home.
  • The right main category, plus a few accurate extra ones. In our experience, Google leans on it to decide which searches you show up for.
  • A service area if you travel to customers, which keeps your home address off the map.
  • One consistent name, address and phone across your website, Google profile and listings.

What a Henderson trade business needs online

Henderson runs on trades, trade suppliers and busy retail. Here’s what usually makes the difference for a local firm.

  • 01

    Trade suppliers on Lincoln Road

Trade customers want to know what you stock or make, whether you deliver, and your trade-counter hours. A page per product range and a quote form that asks the right questions does more than a glossy homepage.

  • 02

    Tradies covering the whole West

From a Henderson base you might work Te Atatū one day and Swanson the next. A service-area profile and suburb names on your site let Google connect you to all of them.

  • 03

Holding your own beside national brands

Lincoln Road is full of big names. Your own reviews, photos of your own work and plain words about your service are what set a local firm apart.

Wine, orchards and a working town

Henderson has a long growing history. In 1902, Lebanese immigrant Assid Abraham Corban bought land here and planted Mt Lebanon Vineyards. By the 1920s, Dalmatian families were running orchards around Lincoln Road and Swanson Road.

The old Corbans winery site on Great North Road is now the Corban Estate Arts Centre. The council bought it in 1992, and it has been an arts centre since the early 2000s.

The town also grew around water. The Ōpanuku and Oratia streams meet in Henderson to form Te Wai-o-Pareira, Henderson Creek. Project Twin Streams has worked on restoring them since about 2005.

Business still runs deep here. The town centre has its own business improvement district, now called Business West. WestCity opened in 1974, and Lincoln Road links Henderson to the motorway.

Google Maps and SEO for Henderson businesses

For a trade, the map pack often brings more calls than the website alone. That starts with your Google Business Profile, set up with every site. To show up in more suburbs, local SEO builds reviews, listings and suburb pages, and SEO Auckland explains how we pick which suburbs to win first.

Should you run ads?

For plumbers, electricians and builders, a click here costs about $2.83 to $11.48 (ex GST). If each job brings in a few hundred dollars or more, ads can be worth it, as long as they only show for searches that mean business. Hairdressers pay far less per click, but customers usually pick those from the map and reviews, so start there. Read what Google Ads costs in NZ, or we can set up and run Google Ads for you.

Henderson questions

Straight answers. Can’t see yours? Ask us.

What does a Lincoln Road trade business need from a website?

Clear product or service pages, who you supply, trade-counter hours, delivery areas and a quote form that asks the right questions. Photos of your yard or stock help too. Business Plus gives you five pages, which usually covers it. Larger catalogues are a Business Pro build, priced first.

I'm a tradie based in Henderson and I cover the whole West. Which suburbs should my site name?

All the ones you genuinely work in. We set your Google profile up as a service area covering those suburbs, and name them on your site. With Business Plus, you get five pages, so your main services can each have their own page.

My shop is near WestCity. Do I still need my own website?

Yes, in most cases. A shopping centre directory lists your name and unit, but it won’t show your full range, your reviews or take enquiries. Your Google profile gets you found, and your own site is where people check you out before they come in. If you move, the site moves with you.

Should my site say "Te Atatū" or "Te Atatu"?

Both, naturally. Most people search without the macron, and Google usually treats them as the same place. We use the correct spelling on your pages and make sure the wording reads well either way, without stuffing in extra versions.

I grow or make things in Henderson Valley. How do customers find me?

With a Google profile that shows your opening days, what’s in season and a pin on the right gate. Your site carries the details a profile can’t, like what you sell and how to order. If customers don’t visit, we set it up as a service area instead.

Can you meet me at my workshop or yard?

Yes. We can meet in person anywhere in Auckland, including your workshop, shop or yard in Henderson. Or we work by email and video call. Either way, the price is fixed first: $499 + GST for one page or $899 + GST for five.

How many Google reviews do I need to show up in Henderson?

There isn’t a set number, and distance from the searcher plays a big part. To give you an idea: in our 8 October 2026 check, the Top 3 businesses in Henderson had a middle count of 159 reviews, and the smallest had just 26. In our experience, a steady trickle of new reviews, each answered, counts as much as the total.

How much does a website cost in New Zealand?

It ranges from a few hundred dollars to many thousands, depending on the number of pages, what the site needs to do and who builds it. We keep it simple: Business Lite (one page) is $499 + GST and Business Plus (five pages) is $899 + GST, both with your domain, hosting and Google profile setup for the first year. A deposit books your spot. You see your homepage before you pay the balance. See what’s included.
